The Many Faces Of COVID19-4
Part 4 of a 7 part series…
4) I wanted to talk about my own personal experience with COVID. Yes I have had it at least once and perhaps a couple of times. Did I get tested? No. I was one of those who lost my sense of smell and taste which happens in 75-85% of COVID19 cases. In fact this is a much more accurate barometer of the disease than testing…at least when I had it. They might have more accurate tests now overall but when I contracted the disease the one time for sure the overall testing accuracy was between 60-73%. The starting point of losing your sense of taste and smell is more accurate than the best and most accurate testing methods so it seemed pointless. In fact I had a higher percentage of getting a false negative if I received the test.
It is a nasty disease I must say. I have often said in my newsletters that boosting overall metabolic health is truly the only answer to be safe. I am grateful that my metabolic health is excellent. But I take the time. I spend the money. I exert the effort all to improve my metabolic health and fitness. I was never worried about myself and I was proven right at least once. It raced through our household and affected everyone except one person. Everyone, even the teenagers were knocked for a loop but only for a very short time (as far as the extreme fatigue and tiredness were concerned). It took varying lengths of time to get over it but it certainly had a way of clinging on and hanging on well beyond the timeframe where anyone would have thought it was completely gone. We are always relatively careful so we didn’t even pass it to our close family members that live less than a half a mile away even though we saw them on a regular basis before we realized what we were actually dealing with.
As I said I have had numerous people I know die from the disease. None of them were terribly healthy but heartbreaking nonetheless. I still predominantly believe that it is each person’s responsibility to spend the time, money and energy learning and actively taking care of themselves. Also, if someone is vulnerable then they need to take extra precautions. It just is a matter of fact. If they don’t, that too is their own choice.
